KKCCCI lauds move allowing more businesses to reopen

-

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) president Datuk Michael Lui yesterday lauded the government for allowing more retail businesses to operate starting yesterday (Feb 10).

Although the announcement has come a bit late, he said it was a great Chinese New Year gift to business owners.

“Having missed out on the golden time for retail sales, the announcement did come as a relief to businesses as they could now make their final sprint before the Chinese New Year.”

Lui called on businesses to strictly comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) or risk having their premises shut down.

Information on the SOPs could be obtained from www.mkn.gov. my or www.kpdnhep.gov.my.

He said KKCCCI members and businesses ought to be more disciplined in taking precautions against Covid-19 to ensure public health and safety.

He said businesses played a significant role in working with the government to combat the Covid-19 pandemic and revive the economy.

“We must cooperate with the authorities to minimize the risks of Covid-19 infections.”

On another note, Lui expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor’s assurance that the State Government would not neglect the needs of the Chinese community.

Hajiji has guaranteed the Chinese community that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) would always listen to their problems and come forward with solutions to benefit all.

The Chief Minister also said that the GRS government was one that cared for the people and listened to their hearts, irrespective of their race.

Lui said KKCCCI would fully cooperate with the State Government and continue to speak up on the welfare and interests of the Chinese community and businesses.

“The Chief Minister’s assurance could not have come at a better time.

“KKCCCI serves as a bridge between the business community and government.

“We aim to highlight problems and provide proposals to address the issues faced by businesses,” he said.
