Bank praised for much improved customer care

-

SANDAKAN: Sandakan Indian Association (SIA) President Taren Sunil Manoharan yesterday praised the management of Maybank Prima Square Sandakan for their prompt response to his previous suggestion that the bank provide some comfort for its customers queuing for service.

“I am glad the bank has proven itself to be very understanding and responsive to well-meant customer complaints,” said Taren, happily pointing out that the bank’s customers are now provided with chairs while waiting for their turn to be served at the counters.

However, Taren has another suggestion after another visit to the same bank recently.

“From the aspect of safety, I would like to further propose that a few of the parking lots right in front of the bank be used as a ‘safety zone’ where signboards or barriers can be placed to alert drivers not to drive too close towards the walkway outside the bank because that is where the chairs are placed for waiting customers,” said Taren.

“Maybe the bank management can discuss the matter with the Sandakan Municipal Council to identify and allocate the parking lots concerned. It is a public safety matter,” he added.

“This ‘buffer zone’ would provide a measure of safety for those sitting on the chairs outside the bank. It should apply to all banks and establishments where there is a long line of people waiting to enter the premises, including popular supermarkets and shops. This is especially important now that SOPs have to be implemented to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This results in longer waiting time for customers,” he said.

He stressed that as a member of the public, he would like to see everyone safe and comfortable when going about their daily chores of earning a living.
