2,654 households in Kundasang to receive food aid

KOTA KINABALU: The distributi­on of another 2,654 food baskets in Kundasang is indicative of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government's care for the people, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

He said the state government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, had played an important role in safeguardi­ng the people's welfare, especially in Kundasang.

"In the meantime, I also thank the federal government for also contributi­ng," he said at the Food Basket Assistance Handover Session at the Kampung Perancanga­n District

Polling Centre in Ranau here yesterday.

"Today, we gather here, to witness the handing over of food baskets to the B40 group affected by the Covid19 pandemic," added Dr Joachim, who is also Industrial Developmen­t Minister.

According to him, 2,654 household heads have been selected to receive the baskets throughout the Kundasang state constituen­cy.

He said the food basket distributi­on started yesterday and 40 have received the assistance at Kg Perancanga­n.

The Kundasang State Assemblyma­n elaborated that the food basket assistance will reach 85 villages, handled by the Ranau District Office through the Disaster Operations Control Center and the Village Developmen­t and Security Committee (JPKK) with the help of the Kundasang Community Developmen­t Officer Unit (UPPM).

He reminded the eligible people to contact JPKK if they have not received the aid.

Dr Joachim also stressed for the JPKK to be fair and impartial towards the people, regardless of political beliefs.

"If there is a complaint made by the villagers, stern action will be taken," he warned.
