No deaths in Sarawak but daily infections still in triple digits

KUCHING: The cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in Sarawak rose to 7,943 yesterday after 185 new cases were detected.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in delivering its daily update said the cumulative number of Covid-19 fatalities remained unchanged as no new deaths were recorded.

The new cases were detected in Sibu (82), Kuching (29), Kapit (20), Sri Aman (11), Bukit Mabong (10), Bau (6), Bintulu (6), Song (5), Samarahan (4), Miri (4), Kanowit (3) and one each in Serian, Sebauh, Julau, Sarikei and Belaga.

Sixty-seven of the 82 cases in Sibu were from active case detection (ACD), 13 from individual screening and two involved healthcare personnel, while Kuching’s new cases involved ACD (11), individual screening (11), Jalan Green Cluster (3), healthcare personnel (2), Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster (1) and symptomati­c screening (1).

For Kapit, SDMC said the Gelong and Jan Yong clusters contribute­d nine and four new cases respective­ly, ACD (4), symptomati­c screening (2) and Pasai Cluster (1).

In Sri Aman, all of its 11 cases were linked to active clusters namely Kejatau Cluster (10) and Sebangkoi Cluster (1), while all 10 cases in Bukit Mabong were from the Gelong Cluster.

SDMC informed that all six new cases in Bau were detected through ACD, while Bintulu’s six involved symptomati­c screening (3), individual screening (2) and ACD (1).

In Song, the five cases there were from ACD (3) and the Pasai Cluster (2), while the new cases in Miri involved individual screening (2), ACD (1), and imported local infection from Sri Aman (1).

Three of the four new cases in Samarahan were from the Univista Cluster and the other, from ACD.

Kanowit’s new cases were from the Pasai Cluster (2) and ACD (1), while the sole case in Serian, Sarikei, Julau, Belaga and Sebauh were detected from symptomati­c screening, ACD and individual screening.
