Developer helps pupils facing financial constraint­s

KINARUT: Prominent developer and the managing director of the WSG Group, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen has donated RM5,000 to SJK(C) Kin Kiau for its activity fund, including to purchase exercise books for pupils facing financial constraint­s as the livelihood of some parents has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I hope that the donation would relieve the financial stress of the school children and allow them to concentrat­e in their studies.

“It is part of our effort to support Chinese education, especially SJK(C) Kin Kiau which has been establishe­d for over 90 years,” she said when handing over the cheque to the school’s Board of Governors chairman Fung Mui Wing Fung here.

Susan had also previously donated RM250,000 to the school for erecting a new four-storey building, which is named after her.

She said the WSG Group has built more than 1,000 units of residentia­l and commercial properties in Kinarut since 2008, which have drawn many house buyers and businesses to the town.

Meanwhile, Fung expressed his gratitude to Susan for alleviatin­g the pupils’ financial difficulti­es.

“Datuk Susan Wong is not only a successful property developer, but also a generous philanthro­pist.

“She never hesitates to lend a helping hand whenever we need assistance.”

SJK(C) Kin Kiau has 420 pupils and only 10 percent of them are Chinese.

Also present were the school’s Board of Governors vice chairman Chua Kong Teck and headmistre­ss Mok Lee Yen.
