PUTRAJAYA: A total of 12,253 housing units under the Caring Residency programme will be built in Putrajaya, with priority for the frontline workers, said Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

He said the ministry was working with the Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) to develop the project at 10 sites in Precincts 5, 7, 11, 16 and 19.

“We are giving opportunities to all parties to get their first home through this Caring Residency programme, with the frontliners, who have been working tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19, to be given priority,” he told reporters after launching the Caring Residency at his ministry here yesterday.

At the event, Protasco Development Sdn Bhd signed an agreement to build 1,592 units of the Kenanga and Melur Caring Residency in Putrajaya, which will be sold for RM200,000 a unit.

Annuar said the project, which is still in the planning stage, is scheduled for completion in 2025.

Construction of the Caring Residency Programme will include facilities such as surau, multipurpose hall, kindergarten, nurseries, business spaces, badminton courts and covered parking area to ensure a more conducive and quality living environment, he said.

“This programme is expected to solve the problem of home ownership, especially among the young people. This project will be extended to the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the ministry is identifying strategic locations for the purpose,” he said.

He said individuals born, living and working in the Federal Territories who are interested in owning the Caring Residency unit can register online at the portal https://residensiprihatin.kwp.gov.my from tomorrow.

“Although priority is given to those who are in the Federal Territory, all applications will be duly considered,” he said.
