SEDCO Group urged to grab opportunities in Sabah Maju Jaya

-

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam urges SEDCO Group to grab opportunities available in the state’s development plan named ‘Sabah Maju Jaya’ which stresses on planning and development.

The Industrial Development Minister also pointed out that SEDCO will lose out on huge opportunities if not administered properly which will impact the group’s finances in the future.

Speaking at a special briefing by SEDCO group on Monday, Dr Joachim said that the state government, through the Industrial Development Ministry will continue to assist the group to play its role in economic development.

This includes social and infrastructure development, he said, adding that all relevant quarters must be serious in implementing approaches in this.

“SEDCO is an agency which has long been established in Sabah and the global economic downturn because of the Covid-19 pandemic makes it challenging for all. It is your responsibility to come up with effective business strategies,” he said.

CEOs of SEDCO group must ensure that they keep to their respective organization’s objective as any deviation will lead the organization astray and the rakyat’s aspiration as well as the state’s development plan could fail.

“Through SEDCO’s involvement in various sectors such as manufacturing, service, property development and entrepreneur development, we have seen successes and this is the catalyst to the state’s economic growth.

“It is my hope that SEDCO group under the current leadership will continue to work hard and strengthen its existence by celebrating more successes and exploring new sectors,” said Dr Joachim who also said that SEDCO group’s commitment and efforts can be an example to other government-linked companies (GLCs) in the state.
