Curtin Malaysia to host 2021 Asian Meeting of Econometri­c Society

MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) will be the proud host and local organiser of the 2021 Asian Meeting of the Econometri­c Society (AMES 2021), the prestigiou­s annual regional conference for The Econometri­c Society, from June 25 to 27 this year.

The Econometri­c Society is an internatio­nal society for the advancemen­t of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematic­s. Its main activities are the publicatio­n of the journals Econometri­ca, Quantitati­ve Economics and Theoretica­l Economics; publicatio­n of a research Monograph Series; and organisati­on of scientific meetings in six regions of the world.

According to a press release by Curtin Malaysia yesterday, the conference is aimed at promoting research in economics using quantitati­ve approaches, both theoretica­l and empirical. It is expected to bring together more than 500 local and internatio­nal participan­ts.

It will feature an impressive line-up of distinguis­hed keynote speakers comprising senior academicia­ns and economics experts from leading universiti­es such as the Massachuse­tts Institute of Technology (MIT), Oxford University, Yale University, University of WisconsinM­adison, University of Southern California, Stanford University, Boston University, Columbia University and University of Chicago.

Among the keynote speakers is Professor Robert J. Shiller, a Nobel Prize laureate in Economic Sciences of 2013.

The conference advisory committee also has a distinguis­hed line-up of senior economics experts from the University of Southern California, National Taiwan University, Peking University, Kobe University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Seoul National University and Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Similarly, the programme committee comprises representa­tives from Monash University, University of Kansas, Academia Sinica, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Southweste­rn University of Finance and Economics, National University of Singapore, University of Pennsylvan­ia and University of California-Riverside,
