Curtin Malaysia to host 2021 Asian Meeting of Econometric Society
MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) will be the proud host and local organiser of the 2021 Asian Meeting of the Econometric Society (AMES 2021), the prestigious annual regional conference for The Econometric Society, from June 25 to 27 this year.
The Econometric Society is an international society for the advancement of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematics. Its main activities are the publication of the journals Econometrica, Quantitative Economics and Theoretical Economics; publication of a research Monograph Series; and organisation of scientific meetings in six regions of the world.
According to a press release by Curtin Malaysia yesterday, the conference is aimed at promoting research in economics using quantitative approaches, both theoretical and empirical. It is expected to bring together more than 500 local and international participants.
It will feature an impressive line-up of distinguished keynote speakers comprising senior academicians and economics experts from leading universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Oxford University, Yale University, University of WisconsinMadison, University of Southern California, Stanford University, Boston University, Columbia University and University of Chicago.
Among the keynote speakers is Professor Robert J. Shiller, a Nobel Prize laureate in Economic Sciences of 2013.
The conference advisory committee also has a distinguished line-up of senior economics experts from the University of Southern California, National Taiwan University, Peking University, Kobe University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Seoul National University and Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Similarly, the programme committee comprises representatives from Monash University, University of Kansas, Academia Sinica, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, National University of Singapore, University of Pennsylvania and University of California-Riverside,
