Penampang, Kadamaian students receive CSR contribution
PENAMPANG: Four hundred and forty-nine students from 14 schools in Penampang and in Kadamaian benefitted from the UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme dubbed UDA Cares; Back to School 2023 @ Sabah here on Tuesday.
A total of RM60,000 was allocated for the programme where each student was given a contribution in the form of a school bag, food container, stationery and subsidised school uniform to prepare for the coming new school session.
Out of the total students, 149 were from four schools in Penampang, namely, SK Longkogungon, SK Terian, SK Buayan and SK Tampasak Togudon.
The remaining 300 students are from 10 schools in Kadamaian.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick handed over the contribution to the 149 students from Penampang at SK Tampasak Togudon.
In conjunction with the event, UDA also upgraded the school toilet.
Ewon in his speech said that UDA’s initiative mirrors the commitment of the ministry and agencies in helping the community that are in need.
“Efforts such as this should be made into examples to encourage more governmentlinked companies and private companies to help communities that are in need,” he said.
UDA chief executive officer and president Mohd Salem Kailany said that the UDA CARES: Back to School 2023 programme had taken a new approach to serve the community in Sabah.
“The programme this year is also held in Johor, Pulau Pinang and Kedah. The organising of the event is our proactive step to contribute back to the communities that are in need throughout the nation and reduce their burden as they prepare for the new school session in March.
