Sunlight Pharmacy holding Heart Health Awareness Campaign

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sunlight Pharmacy is organising a Heart Health Awareness Campaign from Feb 1 to 28 at all of its outlets in Sabah and Sarawak.

The objective is to raise awareness of heart disease which has been increasing in Malaysia and there is a trend towards a younger age. According to data released by the Malaysian Department of Statistics in 2022, ischemic heart disease is the second leading cause of death after Covid-19, contributing to near 14 per cent of deaths in the country.

Before the start of campaign, Sunlight Pharmacy invited Dr Chu Chong Mow and Dr Ahmad Ashraf Z.A., both Consultant Interventional Cardiologists from Gleneagles Hospital KK, to provide professional training to Sunlight’s team of pharmacists and dietitians.

They were equipped with updates and insights on management of blood pressure, cholesterol, and various heart screening procedures and are now able to offer relevant consultation service for the community.

Throughout the campaign period, Sunlight customers with any purchase of RM30 in-store are entitled to a Lipid Profile test at a special promo price of RM18. Customers can find out their total and good/bad cholesterol as well as triglycerides levels with a quick blood test at the outlet, followed by the calculation of their personal cardiovascular risk score by the pharmacists. The risk score helps predict one’s chances of developing heart disease within 10 years.

Early detection of heart problems can save lives.

In conjunction with the campaign, Gleneagles Hospital KK is offering a special rate of RM988 (N.P. RM1313) for their heart health screening package to all Sunlight Pharmacy members. Interested members are welcomed to collect their vouchers at any Sunlight outlet.

Sunlight Pharmacy is also giving out a Heart Care Handbook in an effort to reach out to the community in spreading heart health awareness. Customers may request for a copy for free, while stock lasts.
