Rock group Exists to hold concert in Kuching

-

KUCHING: Local fans of Exists should mark the date May 27 on their calendars as their favourite rock band is scheduled to make their appearance in Sarawak once again after 25 years.

To be staged on Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Indoor Stadium here, the ‘Exists Resolusi’ showcase is made possible through the effort by ImagineX and their sponsors.

“We hear about many musical festivals being held annually in Kuching, which shows that Sarawakians really appreciate music. We are excited to have the opportunity to play in Kuching this time around,” said Ajai, the band’s keyboardist, during a press conference on the concert, on Tuesday.

He said he and his bandmates had played in Miri before and their last show in Sarawak was 25 years ago, in Pusa – a small town in Betong Division.

The ‘Exists Resolusi’, however, would be their first gig in Kuching, said Ajai.

“I have fond memories of performing with Exists in Sarawak. Pusa was memorable not only because of the difficulties that we had to go through to travel there, but also the limited equipment provided by the show’s organisers at the time.

“Still, I could see how dedicated our fans there were, and we played to a large crowd,” he said.

Ajai also said he treasured the opportunity to perform with the original members of the band: Ujang, Musa, Along and the original vocalist Mamat.

The band would also be accompanied by two guest singers, Pasha and Eiz.

On the Kuching concenrt, Ajai said the key mission would be ‘to conquer the hearts of our fans and not wanting to let any of them down’.

“This concert will be a good benchmark not only for us, but for the local musicians after the hiatus of entertainment activities, including concerts, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Of course, Exists promises the best performance and a string of songs that the fans really want us to bring to Sarawak.

“Just wait for our arrival and get ready to sing together,” Ajai enthused.

Tickets for the Exists Resolusi concert in Kuching are priced at RM95, RM195, RM295 and RM450 apiece (inclusive of a meet-andgreet session), and purchases can made via www.tickets2u.com.

Also present at the press conference were Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts II Datuk Snowdan Lawan and Deputy Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Office (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
