-

KUALA LUMPUR: Engineering and project management consultant HSS Engineers Berhad (HEB Group; BloombergHSS:MK) was honoured for its exemplary practices in integrity, corporate governance and anticorruption practices as it bagged the Silver Award from Malaysian Institute of Integrity (MII) at the Integrity, Governance and AntiCorruption (AIGA) 2022 Awards presentation ceremony held recently.

The inaugural award ceremony recognises organisations from public and private sectors that are dedicated to practising integrity and upholding best governance and anti-corruption initiatives.

MII is part of the Global Infrastructure Anti-Corruption Centre, whose aim is to advance the implementation of anti-corruption measures in government, corporate and project management.

HEB Group had embarked on a journey of promoting transparency and trust since 2019. In May 2020, the Group’s subsidiaries and associates successfully obtained the ISO 37001:2016 Anti- Bribery Management System certification.

Most recently, the Group received five certifications of the newly implemented antibribery management systems ISO 37001:2016 issued by SIRIM Berhad in December 2022, specifically for HSS Engineers Berhad, HSS Engineering Sdn. Bhd., BIM Global Ventures Sdn. Bhd., HSS Integrated Sdn. Bhd., and HSS Mekanikal and Elektrikal Sdn. Bhd.

Tan Sri Ir. Kuna Sittampalam, Executive Vice Chairman of HSS Engineers Berhad said:

“The Group has always been a strong advocate in upholding the highest standard of corporate governance across all levels of the organisation, with various steps taken to continuously enhance best practices in line with global Environmental, Social and Governance standards.

“We have implemented a dedicated structure to incrementally improve our corporate governance by conducting regular educational programmes to keep our entire workforce abreast of anti-bribery and anti-corruption regulations and practices.

“Therefore, winning a Silver Award in AIGA 2022 has not only affirmed our industrybenchmarked approach on advocating integrity, governance and anti-corruption, but also motivated us to intensify our efforts even further, as we reinforce our reputation in Malaysia’s engineering sector and begin to make significant inroads in the international arena.”

Out of a total of 116 entries from both public and private sectors, only 92 organisations were selected and recognised for their effort in upholding good governance practices at AIGA 2022. Apart from being a benchmark mechanism to cultivating integrity, it is also a space to bring to light the capacity and capability of the organizations in implementing internal control system related to integrity management and corruption prevention.

This is aligned with the culture of transparency and accountability that the present government is championing to promote a greater corrupt-free nation.
