AmBank, Emraz to offer umrah financing packages

KUCHING: AmBank Group together with EMRAZ Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd (Emraz), an umrah, hajj and tourism agency in Malaysia, have embarked on a strategic partnership to launch a shariah-compliant financing package for the purpose of the Umrah pilgrimage,.

AmBank group chief executive officer Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir said, “In line with the great potential in the market, we are committed to continue to innovate and offer relevant and up-to-date Shariah-compliant financial products and services to meet the needs of our customers.

“Through our joint effort with a leading and respectable licensed umrah agent such as Emraz, we hope that this financing solution can assist our Muslim customers who are looking for flexibility and a customised umrah experience.”

AmBank Islamic chief executive officer Eqhwan Mokhzanee noted that the product offers attractive pricing and financing options for Muslim customers to facilitate their Umrah pilgrimage to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

“This initiative further strengthens the bank’s commitment as a provider of financial products that adhere to shariah principles. We want to make it easier for Muslims to realise their dream of visiting Baitullah and perform umrah seamlessly.”

Meanwhile, Emraz chief executive officer/director Datuk Dr Zulkarnain Endut welcomed AmBank Group’s initiative to work together with licensed umrah agents such as EMRAZ to offer a wholesome and beneficial financing package that will help expand the Umrah pilgrimage customer demographics.

“This specialised and customisable package aims to alleviate the increasing cost of Umrah packages, whilst opening more opportunities for our customers to perform Umrah with flexible financing options.”

The newly launched Umrah financing package is specially designed for customers across all sectors, ranging from government employees, to customers who are both self-employed and also employed salary earners.

To finance travel packages purchased through Emraz, new AmBank Credit Card-i customers will enjoy an attractive zero per cent management fee on their QuickCash Instalment plans for the first application of up to RM15,000.

Thereafter, customers can apply for an AmBank Islamic Personal Financing offer of up to RM250,000 with flexible tenures up to 10 years.
