Two families’ eight-year wait for dream house finally realised

-

BATU PAHAT: After waiting for eight years, the dream of two families from Parit Ya’ani to own a house has been finally realised with the help of Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB).

The families are now ready to move into their houses.

Mohd Hizam Jamien, 40, said in 2015 he applied for a house, worth RM75,000, which was to be constructed on his land but there were several delays which included the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said he and his wife were worried when the construction of the house was first delayed without any reason in 2018, after the 14th general election (GE14).

“However, after Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri took over as prime minister, a re-application was made and forwarded to Parit Ya’ani state assemblyman Datuk Najib Samuri.

“Following a complaint to him, construction resumed and now we are finally ready for occupancy,” he told reporters after receiving the keys to his house from the assemblyman yesterday.

Mohd Hizam elaborated that he works as a gardener and has been renting premises for the past 20 years, paying a rental of RM200 a month.

Meanwhile, the same fate has been experienced by Mohammed Fariz Asnawi, 42, and his wife, Siti Luhainon Mohd Tahir, 45, from Kampung Parit Banyumas.

According to Mohammed Fariz, he has been renting a home for 15 years for RM150 a month and thus making them determined to apply for this loan facility, provided by the government, in 2015.

“My wife owns about an acre of land, so we tried our luck and are happy to have been accepted so that we can build our house worth RM75,000.

“Having to wait for eight years was quite a torture for us, and it was almost not built due to bureaucracy from 2018 to 2020 and postponed again after that,” he added.

Meanwhile, Najib said that there are still many residents here who want to apply for this facility through SPNB to build their houses, adding that all applicants can send the application forms to his office in Parit Raja, here, together with the necessary documents to be forwarded to SPNB.
