Monitor every identified drug hotspot in Sabah — Azis

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) information chief Datuk Azis Jamman said it is crucial to monitor every identified drug hotspot in the state.

This is because drug distribution syndicates involve not only the general public but also law enforcement personnel, he said in a statement on Monday.

He added that enforcement and monitoring of Sabah’s waters need to be enhanced, including the use of radar equipment to monitor every activity of ships or boats.

A strong presence of enforcement personnel in these maritime borders is essential to prevent smuggling and drug distribution, he said.

Azis added that it is important to rotate officers stationed at Sabah’s maritime borders periodically to avoid collusion between syndicates and law enforcement members.

“Congratulations to the Royal Malaysia Police on successfully charging the mastermind behind the largest drug distribution network in Sabah. As a former Deputy Home Minister, I am proud of this achievement.

“Dealing with drug kingpins is not an easy task, especially given their cunning use of various methods and networks both within and outside the country. May this effort continue, and the fight against drug abuse not only prevents harm to addicts but also addresses social issues such as theft, robbery and large-scale robberies,” he said.

Continue the effort to combat drug traffickers, including the significant “sharks” that aid these syndicates, said Azis adding, “we must remember that drugs remain a primary enemy of the nation.”
