Four welfare homes and NGO receive festive contributi­ons

KOTA KINABALU: Four welfare homes and a non-government­al organisati­on (NGO) are the beneficiar­ies of a charity progamme initiated by the ApiApi People’s Service Centre.

They are Persatuan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan OKU Leshan Kota Kinabalu (Home for Special People, Penampang), Bukit Harapan Home, Sabah Cheshire Home, Rumah Bakti Harapan and Kinabalu Pink Ribbon (KPR), a non-profit voluntary organisati­on for breast cancer survivors.

Api-Api assemblywo­man Datuk Christina Liew said the needs of underprivi­leged groups are not forgotten while the Chinese New Year Festival is being celebrated.

“We are part of a caring society that brings relief to those in need, and makes sure they are not left out during the festivitie­s,” she said.

Liew’s political secretary Vivien Lee Mee Peng represente­d the Api-Api assemblywo­man in visiting the charitable homes to present provisions to the respective beneficiar­ies, recently.

On hand to assist were volunteers Chan Jun Kit, Helen Muhammari, Shirlinda Choo, Tiffany Yoong and Lee Ming Hiong.

Founder of Persatuan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan OKU Leshan KK, Dr Brian Wong, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bukit Harapan Home, Paul Lajumin, manager of Sabah Cheshire Home, Jennifer Liew, and founder of Rumah Bakti Harapan, Ginantar Balud expressed their appreciati­on to Liew for her generous contributi­ons in alleviatin­g the plight of less fortunate citizens during the Chinese New Year season.

Immediate Past President of KPR, Laura Bazan thanked the Api-Api assemblywo­man for rememberin­g the breast cancer survivors at this time of the year.
