SWEPA Toastmasters installs 26th president, celebrates 25th anniversary
KOTA KINABALU: SWEPA Toastmasters Club painted the town red and installed its 26th President in a ceremony held at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort on 5th November 2023. Amy Chin Tet Fung, an accounts and administration director of a local company, was installed as the 26th President. The event was graced by Toastmasters International District 87, Director, Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), Nur Zaihanirah Zaini.
The newly installed Executive Committee includes Immediate Past President (IPP) Suryani Mohd Saidi DTM, Vice President Education (VPE) Janet Delvo, Vice President Membership (VPM) Dora Voon DTM, Vice President Public Relations (VPPR) Azlina Abdul Jalil DTM, Secretary Mary Jublik, Treasurer Harbiah Arman, Sergeant at Arms (SAA) Christina Aluda, and Committee Members Annie Cheng DTM, Betty Epin DTM and Caroline Kunju, who also serves as the Area K3 Director, overseeing three clubs in Kota Kinabalu.
Outgoing President Suryani Mohd Saidi thanked her executive committee and congratulated the club members on their achievements to garner the Select Distinguished Club Status from Toastmasters International during the 2022– 2023 term.
The club also celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a cake-cutting ceremony, in the presence of the club founder Datuk Adeline Leong DTM who was also the past District 51 Governor.
Organising Chairperson, Dora Voon DTM, said that the event was an opportunity to honour the dedication and commitment of the club’s sponsors, mentors, past presidents and members, who have contributed to the club’s success over the past 25 years.
Distinguished guests included Division K Director Dato’ Seri Bonaventure Philip Sungka DTM, who served the installing officer, Past District Governor, Dr. Richard A. Gontusan, DTM, SWEPA President Karen Wong and SWEPA Vice President Ophelia Domingo.
