Special fund for schools in Penampang, Kadamaian

-

KOTA KINABALU: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick will allocate a special fund this year for the educational development program in all primary and secondary schools in the Penampang and Kadamaian areas.

The Penampang Member of Parliament said this includes providing funds for schools that have the Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi (PPKI).

Ewon said the assemblyman’s additional special allocation allowed state elected representatives to assist and provide more for the development needs of the people in the areas they represent.

“Therefore, I will continue with the assistance to all secondary and primary schools that I initiated last year, namely RM10,000 for secondary schools and RM5,000 for primary schools in Kadamaian and Penampang.

“At the request of PPKI teachers, I will also provide a special allocation to fund the equipment for PPKI classes in the areas I represent,” he said in his speech at the “Tautan Kasih SMK Narinang” event at Hotel Raia on Friday.

Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian assemblyman, pointed out that it is his responsibility to help address the school development needs in the Kadamaian and Penampang areas.

During the event, Ewon approved a request from SMK Narinang for RM50,000 using the minister’s special allocation for the installation of Smart I Board in the school’s Dewan Perdana.

He also agreed to use the assemblyman’s special allocation and contribute RM35,000 to upgrade the SMK Narinang Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) cabin to be used as temporary classrooms following the influx of new Form 1 students.

“The sudden increase in the number of students at the school has led to congestion and the need to add more classes. This is because the current number of classrooms cannot accommodate the growing number of students.

“For larger needs and permanent classroom construction, I will bring the Education Minister to visit SMK Narinang to see the needs firsthand and resolve the issue this year,” he added.
