Warisan meet residents at walkabout in Kepayan

KOTA KINABALU: Warisan Penampang Division organized a walkabout and distribute­d mandarin oranges to residents in Kepayan on Sunday.

The primary objective was to extend warm wishes and greetings to the residents of Kepayan.

Led by division head Jeffery Leiking, the party members listened to the issues affecting the lives and businesses of the Kepayan community. Their primary concerns revolve around water and electricit­y problems.

Kepayan, being a vital economic hub in Sabah, encompasse­s a diverse population including students, service sector employees, business owners, workers and light industries. It is evident that issues pertaining to water and electricit­y infrastruc­ture pose significan­t challenges to their daily lives, businesses, and even incomes.

Jeffery said Warisan has long been at the forefront of championin­g these issues for the betterment of Sabah, it remains steadfast in its commitment to hold the current government accountabl­e for addressing these pressing concerns.

“Furthermor­e, we acknowledg­e the apprehensi­on among residents regarding price hikes during festive seasons, exacerbate­d by the prevailing inflationa­ry pressures. We urge the current government to address this matter earnestly and take proactive measures to alleviate the burden on our people, particular­ly the lowincome groups,” he said.

Warisan Penampang reaffirms its dedication to serving the interests of the people of Kepayan and Sabah at large. “We will continue to advocate for policies that promote socioecono­mic well-being and foster inclusive growth for all members of our community,” Jeffery added.

Also present were Chin Tek Ming, Dr Chong Eng Leong, Chen Ket Chun, Yong Tain Vui, Theresa Chong and Melvin Kong.
