EWT offer a shopping experience beyond transactions

KOTA KINABALU: Due to increasing market demands, EWT Technology Sdn Bhd has relocated its store at Suria Sabah shopping mall to a bigger location at the same establishment.

Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah and his wife, Datin Sri Adreen Aderizza binti Mohamad Soffi, officiated the grand opening of the flagship store on Sunday, alongside the EWT Board of Directors, Ms. Erni and Mrs. Tracy.

The ceremony, held on the second floor of Suria Sabah shopping mall also featured the presence of Mr. Humprey Tan, chairman of Make me wahSdnBhd. The event was enlivened by dragon and lion dance performances, along with an exciting lucky draw event.

EWT Technology Sdn Bhd founder, Mr. Wong, expressed his gratitude to the Mayor and his wife for gracing the store opening despite their busy schedule, and he thanked his team for its efforts in ensuring the event’s success.

“We are so thankful to everyone who has been with us every step of the way until this day. This journey has been filled with dedication, passion, and collaborative effort, and it is an honor to share this milestone.

“The direction of EWT is simple and clear, which is to offer a shopping experience that goes beyond transactions, where every visit to our store is an exploration of lifestyle, trends, and personal expression.

“We have meticulously curated our collections, envisioned our store layout, and prepared our team to guarantee that each interaction with us is memorable.

“Here is to new beginnings, shared success, and a bright future together,” he said during the launching.

He said EWT had originally opened a store at the mall with 9,000 square feet (sqft) but now the new store on the same floor is 13,000 sqft wide, allowing more space to store electronic goods, at the same time giving customers more choices.

Expressing gratitude, he added, “We are also thankful to the management of Makemewah Sdn Bhd for providing us with the opportunity to transition to a larger and more prominent location.”

Wong explained that the shopping mall’ s management had provided them the opportunity for the relocation in order to cater to market demand with increased space, and the new store has also upgraded many of its facilities for this purpose.

In the coming years, EWT has ambitious plans to extend its presence to additional Sabah districts like Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, and Keningau.

This expansion aims to boost local business activities while providing a comprehensive understanding of IT and gadget products for the younger generation.

The primary objective is to ensure that every young individual stays wellconnected with advancing technology and keeps pace with its evolution.

Wong said the flagship EWT store on the second floor of the mall is a onestop centre for electronic products, where the people can come to shop for computer hardware, computer games, mobile phones, accessories, and other technology products.

He said if the customers want to buy laptops for example, they can also purchase other peripheral products in the store, saving the customers’ valuable time and energy as they do not need to look elsewhere for electronic accessories, etc.

Wong said EWT is a physical store which offers products at very reasonable prices, and it also provides high-quality after sales service, setting it apart from online sellers by guaranteeing genuine products at the establishment.

He said he hopes to change the currently popular online shopping ecosystem as if consumers buy from EWT instead, they do not have to worry whether the items bought are inferior or fake, preventing unnecessary losses.

“EWT allows consumers to choose the correct and safe product. At the same time, our technical staff will explain high-end technology or computer programmes to customers one by one to ensure they are familiar with the products’ functions.

“In addition, our staff will also help customers to choose the most suitable electronic products in order to ensure that the products they buy meet their needs.

EWT also provides insurance services for products, where if any product is damaged, the insurance will fully compensate,” he said.

“EWT’s target demographic are young consumers, whose current trend leans towards comfort and confidence, in which the store fits their needs perfectly as the EWT business concept is to cater to the mentality of the younger generation,” he said.

Wong also highlighted the success of the EWT membership system, which, after becoming a member, the consumers are able to view the latest product lineup offered by the store on its social media channels.

He said all of EWT’s products displays not only a price tag for non-members but also a QR code, and members can download an application to scan the QR codes to see exclusive member-only discounted prices.

“We do not want to tie the original price and membership price together to prevent confusion among customers regarding the prices, and the hidden discounted price is a benefit of becoming a member of EWT.

“When someone becomes an EWT member, they can accumulate points when purchasing items at the store, and after reaching a certain number, the points can be used to exchange for items of relatively high prices.

“The points accumulated will also provide the members opportunities to win big prizes such as mobile phones and televisions. Non-members would be missing out on the discounted prices and unable to participate in lotteries,” he said.
