Putatan should have police headquarters, RELA
PUTATAN: The full district of Putatan should have its own police headquarters and The People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA).
Umno Putatan division chief Jeffery Nor Mohamed said both should be officially set up in the district.
“I have asked a few times to set up the police headquarters and RELA in Putatan ... so that in terms of funding and administration, it is closer,” he said.
Jeffery also commented on the short clean water supply in Putatan and said that he had been receiving a lot of complaints from the Putatan community on the matter.
He added that no early warning was received by the people on water rationing measures undertaken by the Water Department.
He then urged the department to share the information so that the people could make preparations prior to the water rationing exercise.
“Some people complain that they haven’t had water supplied for five days,” he said.
Jeffery was speaking to reporters after attending a High Tea ceremony with Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah who is the Deputy Federal Home Affairs Minister, Lenggong member of parliament and also a member of the Umno Supreme Council.
He added that the event would help to foster better ties between the central Umno and Umno in Putatan.
Meanwhile, Dr Shamsul, when addressing the Umno members at the event said that it is important for the party to continue being relevant and to be accepted by the people.
He added that the challenge was to ensure Umno continues to be accepted by the people, and to ensure it becomes a dominant party.
He also reminded that it was not enough to depend on Umno members for votes (during election) and said that if he depended solely on Umno members he would not have won in the last election.
“I must ensure the people give their support.
“It is important to look after the welfare of both members and the people,” he said.
He also said that it is important to study the people and learn about their needs.
Dr Shamsul also spoke of the use of current technologies, such as social media, AI (Artificial Intelligence) to communicate with the mass audience.
