Wushu Sanda coaches from Labuan complete national-level course

KOTA KINABALU: In a significan­t stride towards excellence, Wushu Sanda coaches from Federal Territory Labuan successful­ly completed the Sport Specific Level One Course in Ipoh, Perak recently.

Forty-nine participan­ts were involved in the national-level course designed to enhance technical proficienc­y and strategic understand­ing thus providing the participan­ts with a comprehens­ive platform to refine their skills.

The dedicated Labuan contingent comprising Tan Chee Haw and Kamarul Iqhwan Asiran, approached the course with determinat­ion and enthusiasm.

“We are proud to have represente­d Labuan in this course.

“The knowledge gained and the skills refined during these four days will undoubtedl­y contribute to our growth,” expressed Chee Haw in a statement yesterday.

Kamarul said that the biggest challenge for him during the certificat­ion course was the language barrier as majority of the participan­ts were Chinese and the facilitato­rs used Mandarin as the main language of instructio­n in the classes.

“I was lucky to have Chee Haw around as he was the one who translated everything for my better understand­ing. This definitely helps in getting myself certified,” he said.

After the certificat­ion, both Chee Haw and Kamarul qualify to conduct classes for Wushu Sanda to produce more athletes in Labuan.

“Our plan for now is to train more students and prepare for the National Junior Wushu Championsh­ip KPM-WFM 2024 this coming May where the associatio­n intends to send eight exponents,” added Kamarul.

Labuan Wushu Associatio­n expressed its hope that the government will continue to support the associatio­n in its developmen­t programme planned for Wushu in Labuan.
