Aliakbar: Not right time to dissolve State Legislative Assembly

-

KOTA KINABALU: PAS Sabah commissioner Dr Aliakbar Gulasan said it is not the right time to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly so that the funds from the Sabah Budget 2024, amounting to RM5.701 billion, can reach the people directly.

The nominated assemblyman opined that the budget, themed ‘Sabah Teguh, Rakyat Terbela’ should be enjoyed by the people to safeguard their well-being and quality of life.

Sabah, Dr Aliakbar said is still grappling with unresolved issues related to basic amenities, therefore efforts must be made to ensure that the budget is utilised towards resolving these issues.

“After more than 60 years of independence, basic amenities such as clean water and electricity supply remain an ongoing topics of discussion among the people, who expect comprehensive solutions from the government.

“The issue of roads is also frequently raised and has persisted for a long time. The complaint about ‘pothole-riddled roads resembling ponds’ poses a danger to safety and must be addressed urgently,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Furthermore, he lamented that the rakyat are burdened with the issue of rising prices of goods and necessities and stressed that the issue also requires effective and efficient attention and monitoring.

“Every day, people are increasingly burdened by the rising prices of items such as fish, flour, sugar, cooking oil, milk and vegetables. As a caring and people-focused government, now is the time to advocate for the people by providing the necessary solutions.

“Once again, I reiterate that this is not the time for the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly. It is the time to continue working for the well-being of the people,” he said.
