Tamu desa project in rural areas of Sabah, Sarawak
KOTA KINABALU: The implementation initiative of the tamu desa project by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry this year, aims to provide infrastructure facilities to small entrepreneurs in rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak.
According to its minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Prime Minister has agreed and announced an allocation of RM20 million in the 2024 Budget for the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry to implement the initiative.
“Last year, I proposed that an allocation to build stalls for small entrepreneurs and upgrade tamu desa facilities in Sabah and Sarawak be included in the 2024 Budget. The Prime Minister agreed and provided an allocation of RM20 million for this initiative starting this year.
“Furthermore, during the national level ‘Hari Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil’ celebration in Penampang last month, the Prime Minister announced that my ministry and I were given the mandate to implement this initiative.
