Pupils of Sabah Foundation’s taska, tadika receive certificate
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Foundation Group held a certificate presentation ceremony for the pupils of its Taska Ria, Taska Kristal Ria and Tadika Ria at the Tun Ahmad Raffae Auditorium, Menara Tun Mustapha yesterday.
A total of 77 children from Taska Ria, Taska Kristal Ria and Tadika Ria received their preschool education certificates from Sabah Foundation director Datuk Sri Gulamhaidar @ Yusof Khan Bahadar.
Eight of them were awarded with the Excellent Pupil certificates.
It is hoped that these children become outstanding individuals in the future, in line with Sabah Foundation Group’s goal to produce excellent human capital with high credibility.
According to Sabah Foundation Group’s Children’s Development Division’s group manager Rosmini Simin, 80 per cent of their pupils are children of Sabah Foundation employees.
“We have applicants from non-employees but priority is given to employees who need help with child care during working hours,” she said when met at the graduation ceremony yesterday.
School fees are subsidized by Sabah Foundation as it is part of its CSR, she said, adding that the subsidy is about 20 per cent of the total fees.
“We have our own syllabus and curriculum as we try to catch up with the latest technology in learning. We also work with publishers like Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka from time to time to produce our own set of learning tools,” she said.
Rosmini said the kindergarten was set up in 1979 and yesterday marked its 40th Graduation Day for the teaching facility.
She added that currently, their capacity is 100 pupils but the number can increase if their facility is expanded.
“We cannot increase the capacity at the moment as our premises only allows a maximum of 100 pupils. If we expand, then we can have more pupils enrolled. We need to abide by the Welfare Department’s regulations which we follow strictly,” she said.
Rosmini added that there are 57 staff to look after the pupils, some who need half day care while others a full day.
