LDP: Let State Govt complete its term

-

KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Chin Su Phin has urged all political parties to allow the State Government to complete its term and refrain from creating troubles.

He said the Sabah Government led by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) had garnered over twothirds of support from state assemblymen to form a very stable and strong government.

“The unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Anwar Ibrahim is a stable government.

“Since all parties in Sabah have given their support, the Sabah State Government should be allowed to complete its term in peace.

“I hope all political parties will respect the people’s mandate and keep in mind that the voters do not wish to see parties resorting to backdoor methods to gain power,” Chin said in response to talks about the political crisis in Sabah recently.

Under the leadership of the State Government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, Chin said Sabah’s economy is finally on track to recovery and tourists are gradually returning to Sabah after the pandemic.

He said another political turmoil will certainly affect the economy of Sabah.

“Are politicians that obsessed with personal gain that they are willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of the people?”

He said the State Government has yet to fulfil many of its missions before its term expires in 2025.

Chin hoped that the political parties would allow the Sabah and Federal Governments to complete their terms, after which the people would decide who would be the next government with their wisdom.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai recently said it is better to wait for five years until the term finishes before holding any elections.

PAS Sabah commissioner Dr Aliakbar Gulasan also said it is not the right time to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly so that the funds from the Sabah Budget 2024, amounting to RM5.701 billion, can reach the people directly.

The nominated assemblyman opined that the budget, themed ‘Sabah Teguh, Rakyat Terbela’ should be enjoyed by the people to safeguard their well-being and quality of life.

The state government has until September 2025 before its term ends.
