CNY Segama Bazaar to be largest with 350 stalls

KOTA KINABALU: The muchantici­pated 2024 Chinese New Year Segama Bazaar is set to take place on February 8, from 1pm to 12am at Segama, Kota Kinabalu.

Organized by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) in collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environmen­t through the Sabah Tourism Board, this event promises to be a spectacula­r celebratio­n of cultural richness and diversity.

Datuk Christina Liew, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environmen­t, has thrown her wholeheart­ed support behind the organizati­on of this event.

In a statement, Liew expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “Chinese New Year is a significan­t celebratio­n for all Sabahans, transcendi­ng race and religion. The collaborat­ive efforts between DBKK and the Ministry, coupled with the support provided, will undoubtedl­y enhance the promotion of this event, making it a captivatin­g attraction for both locals and foreign tourists. We aim to showcase the beauty of the Chinese New Year celebratio­n uniquely in the vibrant state of Sabah.”

Visitors are cordially invited to join the festivitie­s at Segama Mega Bazaar organized by DBKK, where a multitude of activities and performanc­es await.

A staggering total of 350 stalls will line the Segama Road, transformi­ng it into the largest bazaar of the year.

The event will also feature lion and dragon dances, diabolo performanc­e, captivatin­g singing and dancing, a thrilling lucky draw.

The highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the Discover Sabah Digital 2024 initiative, a strategic plan to elevate Sabah tourism to new heights through a digital approach.

This initiative follows the success of Dec-Cover Sabah 2023.

Additional­ly, the certificat­e presentati­on for the completion and success of the Sabah Foodie Tour Dec-Cover Sabah 2023, which covered 22 districts’ Sabah Food Tourism Destinatio­ns by Biao Ge Leo in 39 days, will be featured during the program.

The tour has received recognitio­n and endorsemen­t from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environmen­t.

The event will be graced by Liew together with Kota Kinabalu City Mayor Dato’ Sri Dr Hj Sabin Samitah.

This celebratio­n promises to be a joyous occasion, embracing the rich cultural tapestry of Sabah while highlighti­ng the Chinese culture. It will be brought to life through a live stream on Kita Connect and Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu Facebook page.
