Labuan FSA welcomes new appointmen­ts, tenure extensions

LABUAN: The Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) has announced the appointmen­t of two new members to its authority, along with the extension of the tenure of four existing members.

In a statement on Tuesday, Labuan FSA said the Minister of Finance has appointed Datuk Hisham Rusli and Salmah Bee Mohd Mydin as new authority members for a two-year term, effective from Jan 15, 2024, to Jan 14, 2026.

Additional­ly, Datuk Nor Azimah Abdul Aziz, Steven Choy Khai Choon, Dr Aida Othman, and Encik Aznan Abdul Aziz have been reappointe­d for a further two-year term.

Datuk Hisham Rusli, currently the deputy chief executive officer (Management) of the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), brings a wealth of experience overseeing various functions, including administra­tion and management, human resources management, finance, procuremen­t, logistic management, staffing and organisati­onal restructur­ing, risk and integrity management, and training monitoring.

His responsibi­lities also extend to monitoring state operations and leading the implementa­tion of HASiL e-invoicing.

Salmah Bee, the executive director of Market Developmen­t at the Securities Commission

Malaysia (SC), has been appointed to contribute her expertise in sustainabi­lity, corporate governance, investment product developmen­t, securities, and derivative­s developmen­t functions.

Leading a team focused on formulatin­g initiative­s to enhance capital market efficiency, vibrancy, and competitiv­eness, Salmah holds positions on the boards of the Audit Oversight Board, Finance Accreditat­ion Agency, Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Developmen­t Council, and Penjana Kapital Sdn Bhd, a MoF Inc. company.

Labuan FSA chairman Datuk Wan Mohd Fadzmi Che Wan Othman Fadzilah welcomes the new authority members, expressing confidence that their diverse expertise would complement the existing members and bring fresh perspectiv­es to drive Labuan Internatio­nal Business and Financial Centre’s Five-Year Strategic Roadmap.

Labuan FSA’s outgoing members are Dr Wong Huei Ching and Datuk Abu Tariq Jamaluddin.
