State Sales Tax on biomass export

-

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Cabinet has decided to impose a State Sales Tax on biomass export, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said the tax is pending on the implementation of Oil Palm Biomass Industry Policy which was to control the export of biomass that was also aprroved by the State Cabinet, on Wednesday.

Hajiji said the policy would be enforced within two years from the date of its approval after the Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Sabah Biomass Collection Platform is fully operational, and would be under the purview of the State Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry.

“A Sabah Oil Palm Biomass law would also be enacted to regulate the industry in the state,” he said in a statement after chairing the Sabah Chief Minister's Department post-cabinet meeting at Menara Kinabalu here on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister also told the heads of Departments under the Sabah Chief Minister's Department that the State Cabinet had taken note of the review of the management of the Urban Community Development Committees (JKDB) by the Local Government and Housing Ministry.

Meanwhile, Hajiji helped a motorcyclist who was involved in an accident with a car along Jalan Tuaran in Likas on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister uploaded a video of the incident on Facebook.

According to Hajiji, he was on his way to work at the time.

“My officials and I stopped to help. Luckily, no major injuries,” he said in a short caption.

A Sabah Oil Palm Biomass law would also be enacted to regulate the industry in the state.
