Penampang school showcases innovative spirits in Bangkok
KOTA KINABALU: Twelve teams from SM St Michael, Penampang embarked on an exhilarating journey to showcase their innovative spirits at the prestigious Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx 2024), Thailand Inventors' Day 2024.
The bustling five-day exhibition took place from February 2-6 at the magnificent Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC).
A total of 35 bright students and four dedicated teachers led by principal Jennifer Asing along with Mariatul Hanis, Cyprian Rian Jokinol and Diana Michelle William Sibungkil dazzled the audience with their groundbreaking inventions and achieved remarkable success.
Three exceptional teams – SHIZEN, AquaSweep, and ESCape – proudly clinched Bronze Medals for their revolutionary creations named 3in-1 U-Composter, Azure Horizon Ocean Cleaning Drone, and ESoilcar respectively.
Elevating the excitement further, an outstanding group of eight teams including AVE, Gemstones, FEC, NOAA's Solution, Lovely, BotanIQ, Sadge, and The Trois soared to victory by securing Silver Medals.
Their ingenious inventions such as Blusa Tanin Ball, NERO, BCP Tropical Liquid Fertiliser, EPR (Energy Producing Road), Wavely, BotanIQ Oil, InkifluxTurning Pollution into Poetry, and BekACH left a lasting impression on the judges.
In a grand finale moment of triumph and glory, The Initiators claimed the coveted Gold Medal for their groundbreaking invention – The Sleeping Beauty – a versatile eye mask designed to enhance sleep quality.
Adding to the accolades received was a prestigious International Best Invention Award from Hong Kong bestowed upon the school.
Team AquaSweep was honored with the Young Innovators Award from Singapore while Team Trois received a Special Award from South Korea.
Jennifer expressed her pride in the students' exceptional achievements.
She said, “This competition provided invaluable exposure and experience for our students as they presented their innovative projects to a global audience.”
She commended their presentation skills, critical thinking, and effective communication abilities nurtured through this experience.
“The dedication and commitment shown by our students and teachers is truly commendable.
“I am immensely proud of our students for their outstanding accomplishments. Ora et Labora!” she said.
