KOTA KINABALU: Kadamaian assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick has allocated development funds amounting to RM500,000 and administrative funds of RM150,000 for churches in the constituency this year.

Ewon, who is also Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister said for the administrative allocation, RM100,000 is from his state assemblyman fund and the additional RM50,000 comes from his specific allocation as a minister.

“In addition to the administrative allocation, another RM500,000 from my state assemblyman allocation is earmarked for small-scale development projects related to churches, such as open halls, concrete roads, church buildings, assembly halls and chairs,” he said.

Ewon said this after receiving a visit from the Council of Churches in Kadamaian, namely the Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) Church, Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, and Roman Catholic (RC) Church, at the Kadamaian Adun Service Center, Skyblue Piasau, on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the head of the SDA Church in Kadamaian, Pastor Chaldie Lauran, expressed gratitude to Ewon for his concern and continuous support for the development of places of worship, especially churches in the area.

“On behalf of the SDA Church in Kadamaian, we express our heartfelt thanks to Datuk Ewon for the assistance provided to the churches in the area. This contribution not only helps financially but also provides meaningful support and hope for the churches in Kadamaian.

“We are proud to have a leader and representative like him,” he said.

Yesterday, Ewon dedicated time for a meet the people session in Kadamaian to interact with representatives of the residents, associations, and schools.
