Petronas’ Uplifting Lives program spreads festive joy to Labuan recipients

LABUAN: Petronas marked the joyous occasion of Chinese New Year by extending its Uplifting Lives programme to recipients in Labuan Tuesday.

The initiative, led by Yayasan Petronas, its social impact arm, was launched during a celebrator­y event at Tiara Hotel, attended by Labuan Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr. Suhaili Abdul Rahman.

The highlight of the event was the distributi­on of food packages and festive hampers, personally presented by Dr Suhaili to five selected individual­s out of the 50 chosen recipients.

The Labuan Social Welfare Department (JKM), which selected the eligible recipients, was responsibl­e for distributi­ng the remaining items to the rest of the recipients.

Head of Petronas Sabah and Labuan Regional Office, Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab said the Uplifting Lives programme is an annual endeavour by Yayasan Petronas, that aligns with major celebratio­ns in Malaysia, including Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Kaamatan, Gawai, Deepavali, and Christmas.

She said in conjunctio­n with Chinese New Year this year, Yayasan Petronas aims to distribute a total of 2,150 food packages nationwide, including 100 in Sabah and 50 in Labuan.

The objective is to spread joy and alleviate the burdens faced by needy communitie­s during these festive occasions.

Also present at the event were JKM director Rodin Suri Arif and Petronas Chemicals Methanol Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Hiffani M Jalil, underscori­ng the collective efforts of diverse stakeholde­rs that contribute­d to the program’s meaningful and impactful outcomes.
