SESB contributes house to Ranau resident
RANAU: The People Friendly Aid (BMR) given by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) can help rural folks to live more comfortably and improve their standard of living.
“Today, together we shall witness the handing over of the house key to Madam Rose @ Roslinah Daimin,” said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, who is also the State Local Government and Housing Minister.
He said when handing over the key of a house contributed by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) under the BMR project for the Ranau district at Kampung Langsat on Thursday.
Joachim added the government also provides other assistance such as the People’s Housing Programme (PPR), Hardcore Poor Housing Programme (PPRT), Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Affordable Housing and People Friendly Housing.
Hence, he said the State Government continues to be committed and endeavors to help the poor and hardcore poor to leave poverty.
“I trust that the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme by SESB can help improve people’s lives irrespective of race and ethnicity,” he said.
Joachim also expressed his gratitude to SESB for allocating a house with three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and water closet costing RM75,000 in construction.
At the same time, he also congratulated Rose.
“The State Government welcomes programmes such as these,” he said.
He added that such housing assistance programme complements the government’s effort to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of the people, particularly those residing at rural areas, are looked after.
Joachim also hopes that next year, SESB will increase the number of recipients for welfare assistance.
He said that the effort by SESB shows the organisation’s concern in helping the government to construct basic infrastructure such as housing for the poor.
He also said that the State Government will continue implementing welfare programmes and socioeconomic growth based on the people and specifically targeted on the poor and hardcore poor who are already listed in the e-kasih system.
Meanwhile, Joachim also expressed that he has no objection to supporting the use of coal as this will reduce the cost of energy generation which is very needed to increase the capacity of power generation to develop industries in Sabah.
He said the use of modern, latest and advanced technologies for coal will also be clean or the same as fossil fuel and diesel.
“Other developed countries are still using coal for the generation of electricity,” he said.
Also present were Ranau member of parliament Datuk Jonathan Yasin, SESB chairman Datuk Seri Madius Tangau and SESB Chief Executive Officer Mohd Yaakob Hj Jaafar.
