Jelius shares useful tips with young footballers

KOTA KINABALU: TABS Safa Bandaraya under-16 trainees received a huge motivation and source of inspiration in their journey to become better footballers.

Former state footballerturn-coach Jelius Ating was invited to share his experience as well as useful advices to the young footballers during the local based basic football programme training here over the weekend.

Jelius was a no-nonsense defender who also captained the state senior football team.

After hanging up his boots, he turned to coaching and his most famous achievement was when he guided Sabah to the Premier League (then the country’s second division football competition) title in 2019.

The victory ended Sabah’s long title drought at senior level and more importantly secured them the promotion to the Super League 2020.

Jelius is also the only coach from Sabah to have the Pro A Licence, which is a compulsory qualification to coach Super League team.

“We are very proud for Jelius to make an appearance during our training session where he also shared useful tips with our young trainees,” said TABS under-16 coach Rosly Jamal in a statement yesterday.

“It is a huge honour to TABS and on behalf of the basic football programme, I would like to send our gratitude to Jelius,” added Rosly.

Meanwhile, TABS vice chairman S.A Ramlye said TABS trainees would have benefited greatly from the session with Jelius.

“The football tips and advices from Jelius will certainly give the players confidence to play with the (TABS) team.

“Apart from that, the players too will be able to make improvement in their performance,” he added.
