Petronas hosts Sabah OGSE Partners Day

KOTA KINABALU: Petronas recently hosted the Sabah Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) Partners Day which serves as a platform to share the latest updates on OGSE programmes and initiative­s to drive the Sabah industry forward.

The day-long event attracted the participat­ion of more than 350 Sabah vendors as well as industry leaders and subject matter experts who shared their insights on current industry trends.

Taking place at the Sabah Internatio­nal Convention Centre here in Tuesday, the event marked a significan­t stride in establishi­ng a resilient and sustainabl­e future for the industry and fostering increased collaborat­ion in the developmen­t of the state’s oil and gas sector.

During the event, Petronas unveiled the Kinabalu Activity Outlook, launched by Syaharudin Hassan, Head of Industry Shaping & Collaborat­ion and witnessed by Datuk Thomas Logijin, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Industrial Developmen­t of Sabah.

The outlook provides insights into Sabah’s OGSE landscape, outlining overall plans across various industry categories, including both upstream and downstream businesses, for the next three years.

Syaharudin Hassan, said: “Petronas is determined to deliver long-term sustainabl­e value as a national oil company and a global energy player. We will continue to strengthen the partnershi­p with the Sabah State Government to bolster the state’s economic growth by increasing the capability of Sabahan local talents in the oil and gas industry.”

The Sabah OGSE Partners Day exemplifie­d Petronas’ commitment to strengthen­ing Malaysia’s OGSE ecosystem for vendors to grow and become regionally and globally competitiv­e while contributi­ng to the nation’s economic growth, he added.

Petronas also called for the industry to gear towards adapting to the ongoing energy transition, such as shifting towards lower carbon endeavours, pursuing net zero emissions, and exploring renewable energy sources.

It also emphasised the importance of cross-industry collaborat­ions and co-creation in upskilling capabiliti­es to chart new frontiers for the OGSE industry, in line with Petronas’ effort to cultivate a resilient ecosystem that would ensure long-term success and prosperity for Sabah OGSE landscape.
