RM474.55 million to further strengthen development of human capital, improve education
KOTA KINABALU: The state government allocated RM474.55 million this year to further strengthen the development of human capital and improve the education level in this state, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
He said in a statement yesterday that the allocation is for scholarships, development and operation of Islamic religious schools and mosques, development of non-religious bodies, missionary schools, national and private schools, library operations including village libraries and mobile libraries throughout the state as well as implementation of various programs, training and skills courses.
According to him, education plays an important role in developing human capital for future generation that is brilliant, competitive, knowledgeable and skilled.
“The state government always gives attention and priority to needs and education issues as part of the national agenda, in addition to continuously improving the level of education in this state,” he said at the presentation of certificates for completing Adult Classes for Orang Asli, Penan/ Pribumi (Kedap) for the ninth time at the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Recital Hall on Wednesday.
Hajiji’s speech was delivered by the State Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation,
Datuk Dr Haji Mohd Arifin Datuk Haji Mohd Arif.
A total of 625 KEDAP participants received the completion certificates.
Hajiji also said that the Ministry of Education’s lifelong learning approach is not only for children as young as four years old to receive preschool education formally. Even adults can get such education through KEDAP program which provides basic education to parents who are illiterate.
He hoped that the success of KEDAP participants in completing their classes, would increase literacy rate in this country thus becoming a stimulus to young generation to achieve success in education field.
