KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) has invited state ministers, political and community leaders to attend its Dragon Year Chinese New Year Celebration.

They have praised SCCC for actively promoting Sabah’s foreign business contacts and connections, making significant efforts to revitalize the economy of Sabah.

SCCC President Datuk Frankie Liew and committee members have invited Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew and Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Ginger Phoong to the celebration at 6.30pm on March 2 in Moretune Club Kick Bistro & Fun Pub, Sunny Garden, Luyang.

During the visits, SCCC briefed the ministers on its future direction and plans.

Christina and Phoong praised SCCC for actively promoting interactions between Sabah and China, and other places.

“I hope Datuk Frankie and SCCC committee members will continue to work hard in the new year to promote more activities, allowing more people to see the beauty and potential of Sabah,” Christina said.

Phoong said that under Frankie’s leadership, SCCC has demonstrated a proactive spirit and capability, leading members to broaden their horizons, engage in various levels of business fields, and make significant contributions to awakening and enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit of local entrepreneurs.

He also looks forward to participating in the SCCC’s Chinese New Year celebration, exchanging ideas with members and business representatives, hoping to listen to and collect more diverse opinions and feedback to continue efforts for the industrial and business development of Sabah.

Frankie said with the implementation of the visafree policy between China and Malaysia, more direct flights, and the government’s welcoming foreign investment, it can be foreseen that tourism and various investments will gradually take off this year.

SCCC will make adjustment in response to the current situation.

“We will actively participate in promoting various local and international exhibitions and conferences this year, and plan more business visits and connections, making exchange visits to China and ASEAN countries, hoping not only to find more business opportunities for our members but also to bring more investment opportunities to Sabah,” he said.

Additionally, SCCC will actively expand this year, seeking capable partners to broaden its service scope, establish broader business alliances and networks, bring greater benefits to like-minded entrepreneurs at home and abroad, and contribute to the social, economic and cultural development between Sabah, China and ASEAN.
