FIB’s interview session with M3 league clubs to be held next week
KUALA LUMPUR: The First Instance Body (FIB) will hold an interview session with representatives from several M3 Amateur Football League (AFL) clubs that are applying for an extraordinary licence to participate in the 2024-2025 Super League, next week.
Malaysian Football League (MFL) chief executive officer Datuk Stuart Ramalingam said the FIB had also received additional documents required from the teams involved on Friday.
“We are waiting for the FIB’s decision as there is a lot of planning required for the upcoming season including the schedule, stadium inspection and the use of VAR (Video Assisted Referee). So, the impact on the operation is heavy and we hope the decision will be issued as soon as possible,” he told reporters after feting 150 students from three schools in Segambut at the 2024 Back to School Programme ceremony organised by MFL and the official sponsor of the Malaysian League (M-League), AEON BIG.
Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who is also Segambut MP, MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan and AEON BIG (M) Sdn Bhd managing director Sheikh Faroukh Sheikh Mohamed.
Last month, the MFL reopened the extraordinary licence application for the M3 club following the decision of the FIB and the MFL Club Licensing Appeal Committee (AB) which rejected Kelantan FC’s application for a national licence to compete in the 2024-2025 Super League due to financial problems.
The MFL will select only the best club that meets the set criteria to fill the 14th slot following the absence of Kelantan FC.
The 2024-2025 Super League is scheduled to start on May 10.
In the meantime, Hannah greatly appreciated the concern of MFL and AEON BIG for organising the 2024 Back to School Programme, while expecting more parties, especially corporate companies, to come forward to help the underprivileged.
“Each recipient identified by the respective school managements has been given assistance of RM200 per person with a total allocation of RM30,000 for this programme.
“Thank you to MFL for the contribution given to help ease the burden on parents in preparing their children for the new 2024 school session,” she said.
