-

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Sunday expressed the hope that the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) will continue to be an agent of unity in shaping the mindset of youths and helping the government to achieve more success.

He said MBM, established 75 years ago, should use its experience and maturity as a guide for it to formulate a more inclusive and holistic MBM Vision 2048.

“Hopefully MBM can continue to be a plant that produces national leaders, overcome all challenges with togetherness, tenacity and wisdom and remain a relevant and influential council in raising the voice of the youth,” he said in a message shared on the X page.

He also cautioned the MBM leadership led by its president, Izzat Afifi Abdul Hamid of the changing approach and challenges facing them.

“On your shoulders (is) the trust for an agenda that suits the needs of the current generation,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development said due to a change in his work schedule, he was unable to attend the closing of the 72nd MBM annual general assembly yesterday.

However, he said, the text of his speech was read out by his Political Secretary Datuk Wira Megat Zulkarnain Tan Sri Omardin.

“Despite not being able to participate due to a change in my work schedule, I still observed the progress of the meeting because I have high hopes for MBM to continue to shoulder the responsibility of leading the direction of the youth towards building a towering Madani generation,” he said. - Bernama
