KOTA KINABALU: The Women Division of The Federation of Chinese Associations (FCAS) will be holding a celebration in conjunction with the International Women’s Day on March 8 at Hakka Hall, Tg Lipat starting from 6.30pm.

The aim of the celebration is to create more awareness of the women’s contribution to the society, and in recognition of their ability and capability in dealing with the family and working life.

More women should be encouraged to enter into the employment field to explore their talents and potentials. They can contribute to the society and in nation building.

The celebration is named “A night in Venice” with the theme on masquerade with western costumes. Masquerade is originated and well known in Venice, Italy. In the olden days, carnivals with masks were popular in Venice. People from the poor and rich wore masks to conceal their identity and be able to mingle around without exposing themselves. Masquerade forms a symbol of freedom to associate with others irrespective of their levels. Women were given better chance to expose themselves to social life without revelling their identity.
