Call to beef up police patrol in KK after car break-in

-

KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Public Complaints Bureau chief Chin Vun Pheaw has strongly urged the police to beef up patrolling in the city in effort to safeguard the safety of the people and their property.

Chin said he had received countless complaints on security issue recently, which reflects the public concern on their safety.

He said a man had lodged a complaint on Thursday regarding a thief who broke the window of his son’s vehicle parked near Jesselton Point. The perpetrator’s attempt to steal was foiled when members of the public yelled at the thief, who then fled the scene.

Chin said the robbery on tourist, assault and robbery on a local woman and the latest incident have all happened in the banking area in the central business district to Jesselton Point.

He suspected these cases involved people from the notorious Pulau Gaya and believed that the enforcement agencies are aware of the reason for the recurring robberies.

Chin also said the repeated robbery and theft cases in Kota Kinabalu, a well-known tourism city in the world, have increased the public’s demand towards the enforcement agencies.

“We are grateful for the police’s prompt response in arresting the perpetrators in previous cases.

“However, there are still many criminals around us waiting for the chance to act.”

Hence, he hoped that the police would conduct largescale raids in crime hotspots and arrest the offenders for the safety of the people and their property.

Chin also urged the public to work with the police in enhancing the security of their areas, as well as to report any suspicious person or activities to the police immediately.
