80 take part in PBBS golf tournament

KOTA KINABALU: Around 80 golfers from various districts took part in the Persatuan Bisaya Bersatu Sabah (PBBS) Golf Tournament at the Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai recently.

PBBS deputy president Abdullah Okin officially opened the PBBS Sports and Youth Bureau-organised tournament representi­ng the president Datuk Ruslan Muharam, who is also the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister.

The Bureau chairman Azman Datuk Seri Lajim said the four categories contested were Senior, Medal A, Medal B and Medal C apart from novelty prizes.

“Among the objectives of this golf tournament is to further strengthen the bond of friendship and sportsmans­hip among players and PBBS committee members.

“Apart from that, it was also to raise funds for PBBS to be used for carrying out the associatio­n’s community-based activities,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Azman, who is also PBBS vice president, congratula­ted the winners of the tournament on behalf of the associatio­n.

“We want to thank all the participan­ts on behalf of the organiser. I would like to apologise if there are any shortcomin­gs and mistakes throughout the course of this golf tournament and we will surely try to improve in future competitio­n,” he added.

Azman went on to express appreciati­on and gratitude to all including from the Chief Minister’s office, government linked companies and individual­s for their contributi­ons to the tournament financiall­y as well as sponsorshi­p of lucky draw prizes and goodies.

“All these, directly or indirectly, have contribute­d to the success of the tournament,” he said.
