Actiforce sets up RM50 mln manufacturing plant in Penang
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Actiforce Mechatronics Technology Sdn Bhd (Actiforce), a Dutch furniture manufacturer, has established a RM50 million state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Penang.
Actiforce, which was acquired by Germany-based Hettich Holding GmbH & Co oHG in 2021, has been operating and thriving in Penang since 2004.
Hettich managing director Michael Lehmkul said the new plant would serve as the hub for research and development, manufacturing and distribution of furniture fittings to cater to international markets, namely Europe and the United States.
“It is evident that Actiforce is not just stepping into a new chapter but soaring towards a future of innovation and excellence.
“As a global entity, Hettich is always seeking opportunities for growth and expansion, and we see immense potential in this vibrant and dynamic region,” he told a press conference after the grand opening ceremony of Actiforce’s new planton Tuesday.
He said the new facility, which is located in the Bukit Minyak Industrial area and spans approximately 0.12 hectares, would likely generate revenue of RM148 million for the year 2024, with 99 per cent contributing to the export market.
Additionally, Actiforce operations director Koen Davina said this new plant is the company’s second factory in Penang, and the operations of the two plants would complement each other.
“The new plant is where we integrate the metal manufacture, and then we bring them products to the other plant for assembly,” he added.
Meanwhile, in his speech at the event, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the new factory serves as a testament to Penang’s robust industrial ecosystem, which provides confidence to industrial players and an opportunity to expand, develop, and grow to greater heights.
Chow said investments from the Netherlands are also contributing significantly to Penang, with a total of RM26.6 billion of Dutch investments recorded in 2023, signifying that Dutch companies are important industrial investors in Penang.
