PAPAR: The road connecting Pan Borneo Highway to Parklane City and McDonald’s drive-thru is officially open to motorists on Wednesday thanks to the close cooperation between WSG Group and Public Works Department (PWD)

The convenient access to Parklane City is not only expected to bring large volumes of patrons to the fast-food restaurant and commercial shops, but also will alleviate the traffic inconveniences caused by the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway.

WSG Group managing director Datuk Susan Wong said that after officiating the opening of the road with PWD assistant director Haliza Rijuan here on Wednesday, and inspecting the progress of various projects in Parklane City.

It was learnt that the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway in Benoni, Papar, which links Kota Kinabalu to the east coast and interior districts including Keningau and Tenom, has brought much inconveniences to residents and motorists.

As such, Susan reached out the PWD recently and worked together with the department to construct a convenient and safe detour via Parklane City.

With the opening of the road, motorists travelling from Tenom and Keningau to Kota Kinabalu or Papar can avoid the construction works on the highway by diverting to Parklane City.

“McDonald’s drive thru that is located at the entrance and the shops at Parklane City will greatly benefit from the potential surge in patrons.”

The first McDonald’s drive thru in Papar has become a popular dining spot for residents since its opening on November 8 last year.

“As the first shop at the entrance from Pan Borneo Highway, McDonald’s is bound to see a drastic increase in customers.”

Meanwhile, Haliza said the local residents and businesses often complained about the traffic issues at the Pan Borneo Highway.

“We are pleased that Datuk Susan Wong and her professional team have successfully built an entrance (to Parklane City) to divert some of the traffic from the highway as a temporary measure.”

She also disclosed that the Pan Borneo Highway project in Benoni is expected to be completed by March next year.

The multi-award winning Benoni New Township, comprising Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City, has revitalised the old, sleepy town of Papar with its new satellite city concept.

With the road connecting Pan Borneo Highway to Parklane City officially open, Susan said the company will accelerate the development of Parklane City’s masterplan to build more quality real estate projects in the district.

“We want to create more job opportunities and stimulate the local economy.

“Our aspiration is to make Benoni an ideal residential for the people and a thriving business hub for entrepreneurs.”

Susan said the development of Parklane City is currently in full swing.

By the end of March, the company will be issuing keys to owners of the second phase of two-storey shoplots and the buyers of the first phase of Parklane Villa double-storey terrace houses for them to start renovations on their homes or commercial properties.

In addition, Susan said Tower A of Parklane Condominium, the first phase of the project, will be launched in April this year.

The luxury condominium has four 19-storey towers in total, each tower consists of 164 units. The project, which has a total of 656 units, is expected to be completed in five years.

“Once completed, Parklane Condominium will offer quality residential homes to cater for the population increase in Papar,” she said.

On the other hand, Susan said the much-anticipated 10Star Cinemas will have its grand opening on Labour Day, May 1.

“The cinema will be a healthy entertainment option for both the elderly and young in Parklane City, or even Papar, to enjoy their time.

“Paparians will no longer need to go to Kota Kinabalu to watch movies because they will soon have their own cinema right here in Parklane City.”

She said the company is working on the third phase of the two-storey shoplots, Servay Hypermarket and another 90 terrace homes under Phase 2 of Parklane Villa. These projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

On the other hand, she said piling works for the premises of renowned franchise brands, including A&W drive-thru, Burger King drive-thru and Domaio have commenced and are slated to be completed next year.
