Umno KK getting closer to community through field programs
KOTA KINABALU: Umno Kota Kinabalu has organised field programs together with party machinery during this Ramadan, as a platform to bring the party closer to the community
According to its chief, Musliati Moslimin, although the division is located in the city center, as in previous years, they continued to implement its programs to reach out to the people.
She said that during Ramadan, Umno Kota Kinabalu carried out various field programs to meet and provide contributions to the community.
These include financial contributions and dates to mosques as well as suraus around Kota Kinabalu, distribution of bubur lambuk, distribution of dates to visitors of Ramadan bazaars, distribution of free water and contributions of iftar meals for e-hailing and food delivery riders.
“The programs we implement successfully strengthen the relationship between Unmo and the local community, and this directly helps the community understand that the party actually lives among the people and carries out programs to reach out to the people regardless of religious, political and ethnic beliefs,” she said after distributing food for iftar to e-hailing and food delivery drivers here recently.
According to Musliati, who is also an Umno Women exco member, the connection between Umno and the wider community outside the party needs to be continually strengthened, adding that joint interactions with Umno members and machinery at all levels, both are crucial and play their own roles.
“Umno needs various touchpoints with the people to demonstrate the party’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and this requires sincerity; otherwise, the party machinery will not focus on internal programs,” she said.
“Internal party programs are important, but we need to embrace voters outside Umno to support the party,” she added.
Musliati also opined that Umno needs to continue to take the lead in welfare matters, especially during Ramadan as there are those who are in need of assistance.
