Lions Clubs donate history books to schools
KOTA KINABALU: District Governor Kapitan Ronny Hiew remains dedicated to promoting education and fostering learning opportunities.
Recently, he contributed history books to secondary schools in Kudat, Kota Belud and Kota Marudu, alongside Lions Clubs from Region 6.
This initiative forms part of District 308-A2’s ongoing commitment to support educational endeavours across Sabah and Sarawak. The donation of history books aims to broaden students’ understanding of historical events, cultures and civilizations, fostering a passion for learning and intellectual curiosity.
This initiative underscores Lions Clubs’ belief in the transformative power of education and its role in shaping the leaders of tomorrow. By equipping students with access to quality educational materials, Lions Clubs aim to inspire a lifelong love for learning and empower individuals to reach their full potential.
“We believe that investing in education is investing in the future,” said Hiew.
“By providing students with access to quality educational materials, we are equipping them with the tools they need to succeed and thrive.”
The donation of history books to SMK Pekan Kota Belud, SMK Bandau Kota Marudu, SMK Bengkongan Kota Marudu and SMK Pinawantai Kudat underlines Lions Clubs’ commitment to serving communities and improving lives. It is through collaborative efforts and community partnerships that Lions Clubs continue to make a positive difference in the world.
To date, a total of 6,000 history books have been donated to some schools in Sarawak and Sabah by the Lions Clubs.
Hiew was accompanied by 1st Vice District Governor Annie Ho, 2nd Vice District Governor Dato’ Winnie Lee, Past District Governor Mary Wee, Region 6 Chairperson Anny Poh, President Dato’ Nguang Hing Teck from the Lions Club of Lutong, President Bong Yoke Soon from the Lions Club of Kota Marudu, and President Vincent Liew from the Lions Club of Kota Belud.
