Premier: Phase 2 of Darul Hana project set for 2026 completion
KUCHING: The second phase of the Darul Hana project is expected to be completed in 2026, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said the government is currently focused on developing the second phase while actively relocating residents from several villages to Phase 1 units within the Sungai Bedaun resettlement area – a key component of the Darul Hana initiative.
“Some 200 households from Kampung Panglima Seman and Kampung Pulo Ulu are expected to relocate to units in the second phase, which will also involve parts of the Sungai Bedaun area.
“The second phase is expected to be completed by 2026,” he told reporters when met during the Majlis Iftar Darul Hana organised by the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) here Wednesday night.
He also said the government will identify another area for the Darul Hana initiative adjacent to the existing one at the Sungai Bedaun residential area.
The Sungai Bedaun housing project, managed by LCDA, spans over 100 acres and is designated for the resettlement of extended families participating in the Darul Hana mega development.
The project entails the construction of 426 housing units. Currently, 209 units have been built under Package 1, with construction of the remaining 217 units set to commence this June.
It is anticipated for completion by the third quarter of 2026.
Earlier, Abang Johari and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang presented contributions totalling RM19,500 to 130 residents from 13 villages within the Darul Hana project area.
The recipients comprised the ‘asnaf’ (underprivileged) and orphans, who each received RM150 to help alleviate their financial burden during the holy month of Ramadan and in preparation for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.
During the event, LCDA Holdings Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain presented business tithe for the year 2023 amounting to RM1,910,187.26, to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak, represented by its deputy general manager Bolhassan Iskandar Taibi.
Around 500 guests including LCDA employees, community leaders of Kampung Seberang Hilir, heads of departments and agencies, media representatives, and stakeholders involved in the Darul Hana development project attended the event.
Others present included Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
