Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry awards staff
KOTA KINABALU: Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment cum Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board (STB), Datuk Joniston Bangkuai represented the Minister Datuk Christina Liew at the recent Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry Excellent Service Awards (APC) presentation ceremony held at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru here.
Two staff members Angeline Anjuman and Josia Madingkir received the APC while 10 others bagged the Permanent Secretary (SUT) Award for the year 2023. They were Masnah Taukin, Anasthasia Misiran, Zulhamiz Hariz Harun, Mohd Faezun Jaafar, Nur Khairunnisa Haji Awang Aji, Lanah Sungkoling, Norsyazanadia Zaki, Ahmad Rahimi Wahap, Ellvivi Elysiana Kaimbu and Jackson Lazarus Nicholas.
The accolades were given out by Bangkuai and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Josie Lai Mei Sing.
Earlier, Liew, in her speech delivered by Bangkuai, described 2023 as an important year in the Ministry’s efforts to boost the tourism sector and environmental conservation after the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The tourism sector is a major contributor to the state and national economy. I call on all departments and agencies under the Ministry to play their role in ensuring that the tourism, cultural and environmental well-being segments are further strengthened and continue to be empowered.
“All plans that have been outlined at the respective departments/agencies’ level must be translated into key performance indices (KPIs) that must be achieved,” she said.
The Minister welcomed Lai as the Ministry’s new Permanent Secretary while expressing optimism that under her stewardship, the Ministry will be driven to greater success.
“Congratulations to all the recipients, and staff of the Ministry (including the departments/agencies under it) who have contributed and shown high commitment in efforts to ensure that the Government’s policies and progammes are implemented successfully,” said Liew.
