KTYS cooks and distribute­s porridge to students, staff

KOTA KINABALU: Kolej Teknologi Yayasan Sabah (KTYS) successful­ly hosted the “Program Edaran Bubur Lambuk” at its City Campus in Sembulan recently in collaborat­ion with its community partners Tabung Haji, TH Travel, Bank Islam, and Adabi in conjunctio­n with the month of Ramadan.

The programme which aimed to foster cooperatio­n and close relationsh­ips during the holy month saw enthusiast­ic participat­ion from KTYS Student Representa­tive Council, students, as well as staff of KTYS and its partners. Students and staff from KTYS’s culinary programme played a significan­t role in the cooking and preparatio­n of the savoury rice porridge as part of the

College’s commitment to practical learning and community service.

Attendees were treated to a warm atmosphere filled with camaraderi­e and goodwill as they worked together to prepare and distribute the porridge to the staff and students.

Apart from the cooking activities, Tabung Haji, TH Travel and Services, and Adabi also set up their booths offering various services and selling their products.

Datuk Hajah Tah Nia Haji Jaman, chairman of KKYS Sdn Bhd, (KKYS Sdn Bhd is the company managing KTYS) expressed her gratitude for the overwhelmi­ng support and participat­ion in the event.

“We are happy and grateful to see the community come together in the spirit of giving in which the success of this programme is a testament to the power of collaborat­ion and compassion. We firmly believe in the importance of giving back to society and making a positive impact on the lives of others,” stated Tah Nia in her speech.

Last week, KTYS staff led by Tah Nia also visited Home Tuaran to distribute daily essentials and cash donations from KTYS’s staff as one of its Ramadan activities.

Home Tuaran, set up by Hj Sulaiman Osman, is an orphanage for male teenagers and has been operating since 2014.

Apart from providing lifelong learning skills and academic qualificat­ion to local youths, KTYS is also committed to serving the community and fostering a culture of compassion through its annual welfare activities.

Also present at the event were Haji Abdul Samat @ Musa bin Mansur, Branch Manager of Tabung Haji Sabah, Haji Hidam @ Adam bin Haji Tory, Head of Regional Office, TH Travel and Services, Muhd Zahari Muhd Nasir, General Manager Adabi Sabah, and Lailatuakm­ar Ismail, Business Branch Manager, Bank Islam.
