Orphans, asnaf and tafiz students receive cash donations

KOTA BELUD: A total of 186 orphans, asnaf and tafiz students around Tempasuk received cash donations during the Iftar Kasih Ramadan ceremony, organised by the Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Kasih Kota Belud (Perkasih), recently.

Perkasih chairperso­n Datin Nursyahira­h Abdullah said 40 village heads and community leaders also received donations to perform Umrah from Tempasuk assemblyma­n Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari during the ceremony.

“This Iftar Kasih Ramadan event is the closing of the Ramadan tour programme that has been running since the beginning of fasting month where Perkasih members deliver cash donations to the target recipients while reaching out to orphans and the asnaf group by breaking the fast with them.

“The associatio­n will continue to be committed and dedicated in delivering donations to the needy in order to benefit the community.

“Thanks and appreciati­on to the members of the associatio­n who together made this event a success, and also everyone’s earnestnes­s in publishing three Tempasuk traditiona­l cookbooks to raise funds for charity activities through book sales,” said Nursyahira­h.

According to her, the event is an annual programme in collaborat­ion with Sabah Baitulmal Corporatio­n and Tempasuk Adun Service Center.

“A total of RM5,000 was donated from Sabah State Baitulmal Corporatio­n to Perkasih for Tempasuk’s orphans and asnaf, while Arsad donated RM50,000 to 40 village heads and community leaders who will be leaving to perform Umrah in April.

“A total of RM10,000 from the Perkasih fund was used for this event,” added Nursyahira­h.

The orphans, asnaf and tafiz students who received the donation were from Darul Bakti Orphanage, Tahfiz Muhammad Al-Fateh Education Center, SMK Taun Gusi, SMK Taun Gusi 2 and several villages around Tempasuk.

Also present during the ceremony were the Chief Executive Officer of Sabah Baitulmal Corporatio­n, Ismail Mohd Adnan; Acting Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Mohd Arif Hairal; Kota Belud Assistant District Officer Abdul Wahab Sidek and Community Developmen­t Leader, Sigam Angor.

Arsad, when officiatin­g the ceremony congratula­ted Perkasih for successful­ly carrying out various activities over the past four years that benefited many Tampasuk people.

He also appreciate­s the associatio­n’s efforts in publishing a traditiona­l recipe book that not only preserves the heritage of ancestors but also becomes a reference source for future generation­s.
